Bradford Civic Centre Master Plan
Bradford / 2004 / 8.5 ha
The 8.5 hectare property was purchased by the Town of Bradford to be developed as a new Town Centre, including administrative, and sport and recreation programming.
BNC configured the plan to create a new Civic Square framed by the new Town Hall and Municipal Services building at the corner and the Library and Cultural Centre farther to the east along the main throughfare of Holland St. The two elements are connected by a spacious Wintergarden to provide civic multi-purpose space throughout the seasons. A large civic sports and recreation centre faces this complex to the north. The plan also incudes a new civic park and an outdoor leisure space for children’s activities and day to evening performances. The buildings and the entire site are linked thorough natural, pedestrian pathways and trails.
The site has been designed to accommodate future expansion for the Town. It is being realized in phases and has quickly become the focus of civic activity in Bradford. BNC later went on to design the new Bradford Library and Cultural Centre on the site.
